Evocative, empathetic and emotional

About

Steeped in the traditions of this island, Barry Kerr’s creative work – both as a painter and as a musician – expresses the very heart of Irish life. Originating from the southern shores of Lough Neagh in Co. Armagh, Kerr is now living and working in Belfast where he is artist in residence at the Duncairn Centre for Culture and Arts.

Evocative, empathetic and emotional, Kerr’s paintings animate the very soul of his subject matter – be it landscape, portrait or poignant depictions of Irish life. He paints expressively in oils and his work is instantly recognisable.

One of Ireland’s most accomplished musicians, singers and song-writers, Kerr’s art is coloured by his musical experiences. Drawing inspiration from this creative well, his forthcoming work ‘CEATHAIR’ will combine his passions for music and art, and will be exhibited and performed in Belfast this coming August.
