Barry Kerr's vision for his upcoming exhibition was cultivated from the word ‘CEATHAIR’ — the Irish word for ‘Four’.
Kerr has chosen four inspirational figures from the Irish musical tradition from each of the four provinces and has created a body of work inspired by their music, poetry and song.
He has drawn on and responded to the work, emotions and experiences of these musical and poetic masters to bring us on a powerful journey into the essence of their music, poetry and song.
The work is underpinned by themes including connection to land, place and the sea; music, song and language passed down through the generations; and representations of the otherworld in traditional Irish music.
